{Plaid Habit}

It is no secret that we love a good plaid print. While plaid is too often associated with the cooler months, as habitual plaid lovers, we found the perfect way to incorporate this staple print into our summer wardrobes. Because we were Catholic school girls in another life, we are all over this skort. I mean COME ON, it's a plaid freakin' skort.

To keep the look light and airy, we tucked in a chiffon tank that compliments the beige in the skort. The low cut back on this tank provided the perfect opportunity to sport this extremely trendy body chain. It took us a while to decide if we were completely on board with this trend, but if it is done right, this piece of jewelry adds the perfect amount of interest to an outfit.

We accessorized the rest of the look with minimal sandals, layers of bracelets, and a leather crossbody bag.

These Isabel Marant inspired sandals fall right on track with the ankle strap trend.

{West Coast}

Don't let the shorts, or the fact that it's May, fool you. It is not quite summer here in Michigan, but we are going to do our best to pretend that it is.

We love the laid back street style of west coast natives. The perfectly distressed apparel, sun-kissed hair and bohemian layers are things us midwesterners can only aspire to emulate. That won't stop us from trying.

For today's look, we layered on the distressed pieces. Starting with this loose knit sweater. The neutral color and light distressing is the perfect base for our outfit. We paired the sweater with a patchwork utility jacket and light-washed denim cut-offs. For accessories, we layered on delicate necklaces, classic sunglasses, and a leather tote.

Layer long and short necklaces for a boho look.

Nude and strappy heels elongate the leg.

Jackets with patches give off a vintage look.

{Twist & Shout}

Over at Darnell Diary, we are big fans of recycling trends.

For the upcoming seasons, key trends from the 60s and 70s have come back into popular consciousness.

For this post, we were inspired by a-line silhouettes, mixed prints and feminine accessories.

Starting with the top, this classic striped top has a modern edge with cropped length, but the three-quarter length sleeves and mock neck give it some 60s vibes. The plaid skirt is no longer intended for wear by Catholic school girls. The a-line shape is reminiscent of the decade and also completely on trend.

A voluminous ponytail and a pair of round shades put the finishing touches on this 60s inspired look.

Round sunglasses are a low-key way to incorporate 60s trends into your wardrobe.

Oversized stud earrings add a sophisticated touch to the outfit.

Black pointed toe heels are an essential in every wardrobe.
